IHOP changes name back in time for 60th anniversary, offering 60 cent pancakes on July 17

After nearly a month of calling itself the "International House of Burgers," IHOP is going back to what made it famous — pancakes.

The diner chain announced its second "name change" in as many months on Monday, tweeting that it would "never turn its back on pancakes (except for that time we faked it to promote our new burgers)".

IHOP also said it would celebrate the return to pancakes by offering 60 cent flapjacks on July 17 for the chain's 60th birthday.

In early June, the chain announced it was flipping the "p" at the end of its name to becomeIHOb without explanation. The announcement caused days of speculation on social media as to what the "b" stood for.

The restaurant even changed signage at some high-profile locations to drum up publicity.

On June 11, "IHOb" announced the "b" stood for burgers, and that it was offering a number of new promotional cheeseburgers.

The tweet sparked more social media reaction, particularly from burger chains like Wendy's and Burger King.
