A man has been identified after his body was found following a grass fire in 2017.
According to KCSO, Refugio Torres-Chavez, 45, of Bakersfield, was found dead at a grass fire that burned east of Cottonwood Road and Pachecho Road in Southeast Bakersfield on July 2, 2017.
A postmortem examination was conducted, and the Kern County Coroner determined that Torres-Chavez died of thermal burns. His death was determined to be an accident.
Torres-Chavez was identified through DNA.
