BAKERFIELD, Calif. — According to Bakersfield Police Department officials early Saturday morning just after midnight officers witnessed a man driving recklessly on Ming Avenue and attempted to make a traffic stop on Ming Avenue near the Valley Plaza Mall, but it later led to a foot chase between the driver and police.

Officials said after the stop the man eventually took off on foot and fled towards Highway 99. The man ran across the north and south bound lanes and was eventually struck by a truck heading south bound on Highway 99.

The man was taken to the hospital with major injuries and there is no update on his condition at this time according to officials.
