LOS ANGELES (AP) — Californians are likely to experience winter storms late Christmas Day into the rest of the holiday week, with rain, snow and wind moving across the state.
In San Diego, the National Weather Service forecasts that a cold low pressure system Wednesday will move inland and bring heavy rain and gusty winds. Heavy snow is expected to fall in the mountains in San Bernardino, Riverside and San Diego counties, with accumulation up to 35 inches (.89 meters) above 6,500 feet (1981 meters), through Friday morning.
The weather service also expects precipitation to develop along the Central Coast, north of Los Angeles, and spread throughout the region from Wednesday night to Thursday night. Snow is also expected to accumulate in the mountains, as well as in the Cuyama and Antelope valleys.
In Northern California, the weather service has issued a warning for beaches between Sonoma County through Monterey County. Rip currents and large shore breaks are expected along the coast.
