BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Shortly before 2 p.m. Saturday the Kern County Sheriff's Office said they received reports of two people in the Kern River near the mouth of the canyon.

So far officials said the two people in the river managed to get on a raft but they have not made it out of the water as of yet and a rescue effort is currently underway.
