BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Sunday Morning Los Reyes Market on South Union Avenue opened it's doors ready for their Grand Opening celebration. The nearest grocery store to Los Reyes Market is a mile and a half away. According to the FDA, that means before Los Reyes opened in a food desert. A food desert is an urban area more than a mile away from access to good-quality food and affordable food.

Joanna Duran, who works for Los Reyes Market, said they moved into South Bakersfield to help serve the community. She said the theme inside the grocery store is aimed to give the feel of being in Mexico in California.

Duran said Los Reyes Market is open seven-days a week from 7 a.m. to 10 p.m. Los Reyes Market is located at 2303 South Union Avenue in South Bakersfield.
