BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — It was an early celebration at Meadows Field Airport on Tuesday night. Sgt. Elaine Moreno, who is serving in the U.S. Army Reserve, surprised her family with a homecoming.

Sgt. Moreno was deployed to Iraq for 10 months. She was greeted at the airport by her family, including her three-year-old son, who didn't know his mom would be back home.

"It was extremely emotional. It was. I'd say surreal. I'm just in disbelief because it's been so long," Sgt. Moreno said.

Sgt. Moreno said she is home for good and is looking forward to celebrating the new year here in Bakersfield.
