BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — Attorney Daniel Rodriguez has been practicing law for 40 years and during his career, he has filed a number of civil lawsuits against law enforcement, both in Bakersfield and elsewhere.

So, when he was notified over the weekend that someone had 'tagged' his offices with anti-police rhetoric, he was shocked, but said he understood the pain that many people are feeling right now.

Rodriguez believes the BPD are doing a good job handling the protests downtown and the vandalism associated with the demonstrations can actually detract from the message, that the actions by a Minneapolis police officer, that led to the death of George Floyd, has to stop.

He also added that during his career, he has also represented many police officers and their families in litigation and that most law enforcement personnel 'do the right thing'.
