Bakersfield Police investigated a shooting in the area of McKee Road and Maria Angelica Street near Pumpkin Center.
At about 6:10 a.m. Monday, officers arrived, but they were unable to confirm an offense and did not locate a victim. About an hour later, the Kern County Sheriff’s Office was called to the 8900 block of Viola St. where they found a male suffering from a gunshot wound. He was taken to a local area hospital with moderate injuries and was sent into surgery.
Officers located a crime scene in the 2600 block of Celentano Ct. and other witnesses confirmed that a shooting took place.
A male subject was detained and brought to the Bakersfield Police Department for questioning. A firearm was located and seized.
