UPDATE (12:43 a.m.): KCSO says a 41-year-old woman was killed in the collision on Highway 43 at Prospect near Wasco. 

Three vehicles were involved. KCSO says a 51-year-old likely caused the crash. He was taken into custody for suspicion of driving under the influence. He suffered minor injuries. A third vehicle involved had three people inside. The driver suffered only minor injuries and two passengers were not hurt. 

KCSO says all roads in the area will be re-opened by 1 a.m. Thursday.

Kern County Sheriff's Deputies are investigating a fatal crash near Wasco.

Officials, so far, can confirm that four cars were involved and that one person was pronounced dead at the scene.

The accident happened at about 8 p.m. near Prospect Avenue and Highway 43.
