The Bakersfield Police Department says one person is dead and another injured after a shooting in South Bakersfield early Sunday morning. 

Police said they responded to the 1300 block of Santiago Court near Claire Street after neighbors in the area called police around 1:30 a.m. Sunday who said a man was shot in the front yard of a nearby home.  Police said residents in the area were having a party when the shooting unfolded.

The man who was shot was taken to the hospital in a private vehicle, while a girl was found shot in the back yard and pronounced dead at the scene.

Family has identified that girl as 15-year-old Candis Breanne Beckemeyer on Sunday. Authorities identified her on Monday.

There is no suspect information available at this time.
