BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The California Department of Education announced in a press release on Friday that they have created a task force to facilitate technology donations and resources for disadvantaged students. The task force has been named the "Closing the Digital Divide Task Force."

The COVID-19 outbreak has exposed the lack of access to technology and internet service for millions of students who are economically disadvantaged or living in rural communities.

They are holding a fact-finding session with chief executives of Internet Service Provider companies to address the technology gaps that exist for students who lack access to resources such as internet connectivity and devices.
