TEHACHAPI, Calif. — The City of Tehachapi has declared a local emergency in response to the coronavirus pandemic following Governor Gavin Newsom’s executive stay at home order.

Mayor Susan Wiggins signed Resolution No. 11-20 on Friday. The declaration must now be ratified by the City Council at a special meeting within the next seven days.

Information on the date and time of that meeting will be sent at least 24 hours in advance and will utilize remote access for councilmembers and the public.

The declaration will not impact essential services such as Tehachapi Police, Kern County Fire (contracted), as well as water, sewer and trash services.
