COVID-19 cases in Kern County break 200 daily, most states feel the surge

KERN COUNTY, Calif. — For more than a week straight, the daily number of COVID-19 cases in Kern County has broken 200.

This comes as Kern entered the purple tier again.

Public health officials reported 222 news cases of COVID-19, this brings the total number of cases to more than 37,000, but there were no coronavirus related deaths today, that number remains at 432 since the pandemic started.

In Kern County, it's estimated that close to 18,000 people have recovered from the virus.

Around the nation, most states are seeing a rise in COVID-19 cases.

In the united states, Johns Hopkins reports there are more than 11,000,000 confirmed cases of the virus, and more than 240,000 people have died after being infected with the virus.

States including Ohio, New York, and Minnesota all have curfews in place.
