Beginning today, CVS pharmacies will begin giving the COVID-19 vaccine to people at skilled nursing facilities across California.

This is all part of a 12-week vaccination program at California skilled nursing facilities and assisted living centers. CVS expects to give the Pfizer COVID-19 vaccine to around 700,000 people at 15,000 facilities across California.

Earlier this month CVS started administering vaccines to staff and residents at long-term care facilities on the east coast. Walgreens expects to vaccinate 3 million residents and staff at facilities throughout the US.

CVS did not announce how many people they expect to vaccinate through the program.
