SACRAMENTO, Calif. (KERO) — Governor Gavin Newsom provided an update on the coronavirus situation in California which is currently outpacing the rest of the country.

The local number of positive tests has climbed during the recent surge. According to the county health department's website.. The number of people isolating at home back on dec. 1st was just below 14,000.
As of Sunday, that number is reportedly at 36,558 residents.
Local and state officials say we won't see the results of the latest post-holiday surge for several weeks.
