Kern County officials took time Monday during the public health department briefing to address Phase Two of California's plan to reopen. Kern County Administrative Officer Ryan Alsop said the county is looking to move through Phase Two quickly.

"The governor has put out a list of guidance. Several provisions, things that will allow our county to accelerate through these phases of stage two that we are currently in. Again, allowing the county of kern to open at an accelerated rate," said Alsop.

Alsop went on to say Kern County could accelerate this current phase even more quickly than other counties based on regional data. He added that they are planning on engaging with the governor's office so that Kern County can open in a safe and responsible manner.

To accomplish that the county has put together a committee to work with local businesses to help businesses understand opening their doors under guidelines.

Alsop encouraged local businesses to provide input to the governor through the state's COVID-19 website.
