The Kern Public Health Department is Reporting another spike in local cases marking the first time we've seen back to back days with increases of more than 200.

Officials reported 220 new cases bringing the total to just under 6,000. The death toll also rose by two and now stands at 89 deaths.

Public health is reporting more than 4,000 residents have fully recovered and more than 72,000 tests have come back negative.

Officials added that testing sites are reporting a longer turn around time so if you're waiting on results that could be why.

With a return to school a hot button topic lately Public Health addressed the issue, discussing the possibility of heading back to school next month.
