Kern County receives over 1 million dollars in grants to help with the coronavirus pandemic

SACRAMENTO, Calif — Three cities in Kern County will receive a combined total of $1,058,291 in grants to address the coronavirus pandemic.

Bakersfield will receive $411,905. Arvin will receive $42,942. Delano will receive $55,166 and Ridgecrest will receive $33,206.

The money can be used for things such as hiring personnel, paying overtime, buying personal protection equipment, distributing resources, and addressing the medical needs of inmates.

The grants were given out by the U.S. Department of Justice. The grants were made available under the Coronavirus Emergency Funding program.
