BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The U.S. Supreme Court has ordered a lower federal court to reexamine California restrictions on indoor religious services in cities most affected by the pandemic, like Los Angeles.
This comes after justices' recent ruling in favor of church and synagogues in New York.
The case will eliminate a federal district court ruling that rejects changing restrictions from a Pasadena-based church that has more than 160 parishes across the state.
Last week, the Supreme Court was split 5-4, in a ruling that decided New York could not enforce certain limits on attendance at places of worship in New York.
