BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A local church is asking the community for help after they said there have been several burglaries, break-ins, and vandalism done to their facility in Southwest Bakersfield.

Officials with Rising Star Baptist Church on Wilson Road told 23ABC that they have several incidents recorded on their surveillance cameras of people breaking into their church. The most recent incident happened on January 22nd. A pair of men can be seen on surveillance video hopping a fence, breaking a van window and stealing the battery from their church vans.

Church officials say they have filed reports with Bakersfield police over the incidents.

"We've made several reports. They've broken into our vans, vandalized our church," explained Taniya wright of Rising Star Baptist Church. "We have numerous cameras around our facility. They've torn down our cameras. We now have up on high poles, so they can't reach them."

Officials say there have been thousands of dollars done in damage because of these incidents. They mainly want the public's help in identifying the suspects so that they can be arrested and the ongoing incidents at their church will stop.

Anyone with information is asked to call BPD at 327-7111.
