BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A dental assistant in Bakersfield will face a judge later this week after an investigation by the Department of Insurance. Alma Almendariz was booked into Kern County jail on multiple counts of insurance fraud, identity theft, and grand theft.

An investigation found that Almendariz worked at the same office as Maria Urandy who is also being investigated.

Amendariz is accused of using insider knowledge gained from working at dental practice to submit false insurance claims worth over $10,000.

Alemdariz is scheduled to be arraigned on Friday.
