Bakersfield Police Department makes firearm arrest

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department say they've arrested a man for negligent discharge of a firearm and possession of narcotics for sales.

Police say they reported the 200 block of Marge Street in an attempt to locate two male subjects shooting into an open field. Prior to their arrival, the male subjects fled in a white Honda Passport.

When they found the vehicle, 18-year-old Juan Aldana Jr. was located in it. According to police, he discarded a backpack in the street that contained a loaded Glock 19 handgun, various illegal narcotics and a large amount of currency. They arrested Aldana Jr. and are searching for more information.
