BAKERSFIELD, Calif. - Local law enforcement agencies teamed up the weekend of Aug 21-22 for a joint "Street Racing Enforcement Operation."
The Bakersfield Police Department and the California Highway Patrol were out between the hours of 9 p.m. and 2 a.m., Friday and Saturday.
The joint effort led to 66 citations, 28 vehicles impounded, three stolen vehicles were also recovered, and six people were arrested and police seized two stolen guns as well.
Of the people arrested, police took into custody a DUI driver as well as a suspect that had an outstanding arrest warrant for statutory rape.
BPD and CHP will continue their zero-tolerance enforcement efforts to curb illegal street racing.
