BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — On Wednesday morning, officers with the Bakersfield Police Department responded to a welfare call on Chester Place. When they arrived, they found a woman inside with injuries consistent with an assault.

She was declared dead at the scene.

The identity of the victim has not been released and no arrests have been made.
