Convicted child molester killed by inmate during attack at Corcoran State Prison

CORCORAN, Calif. — An inmate serving a life sentence for aggravate sexual assault of a child under 14-years-old was killed during a fight at California Substance Abuse Treatment Facility, and State Prison in Corcoran.

According to Corcoran officials, David Bobb, 48, and another inmate were attacked at the prison by an inmate, Jonathan Watson, 41, on Jan. 16. Bobb and the other victim inmate were treated on scene for multiple head injuries before ambulances arrived to take them to the hospital. Bobb died while en route.

The other inmate remains in critical condition at an outside area hospital.

Bobb had transferred to Corcoran from San Diego County where he was convicted on Oct. 17, 2005. He was serving a life sentence without the possibility of parole.

Watson transferred to Corcoran from Humboldt County on September 4, 2009 to serve life with the possibility of parole for first-degree murder and intentionally discharging a firearm causing great bodily injury or death.

SATF’s Investigative Services Unit and the Kings County Coroner’s Office are investigating.
