BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Coroner's Office identified 53-year-old Tracey Scott Elliott as the man stabbed to death in front of a smoke shop in Oildale Tuesday.

The stabbing happened Tuesday around 1:45 p.m. at Belmont Avenue and Roberts Lane.

According to the coroner, Elliott was taken to Kern Medical where he died from his injuries following the stabbing. A postmortem examination will be performed to determine the exact cause and manner of death.

The Kern County Sheriff's Office arrested 34-year-old Jesse Lopez of Bakersfield in connection to the deadly stabbing.

He was booked into Kern County Jail Wednesday.
