BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to the Kern County Sheriffs Office, deputies responded to a call Tuesday afternoon around 3:45 p.m. about a body in the 2400 Block of S. M Street near S. Chester Avenue and Wilson Road.

The victim has been identified as 71-year-old Jimmy Erwing who was found suffering from a wound to his chest caused by unknown means.

The cause of death is unknown at this time but authorities are ruling it a homicide.

In addition, KCSO was unable to identify who made the call and there is no information on the victim or a possible suspect.
