(UPDATE Mon. 9:46 p.m.) KCSO has identified the victim as 31-year-old Shavonna Wilson.

Saturday morning at 2:20 a.m., the Kern County Sheriff's Office was dispatched to a motel in the 8200-block of E. Brundage Ln for possible shots fired and a male loading a female into a vehicle.

Deputies arrived and located a crime scene, but no victim. A short time later, a female was dropped off at a local hospital suffering from gunshot wounds, and the driver then drove away. The female was later pronounced deceased.

A description of the vehicle was provided to local law enforcement agencies and at 4:10 a.m., an officer with the Bakersfield Police Department located the vehicle driving in east Bakersfield.

KCSO said they attempted to stop the vehicle, but the vehicle led officers on a pursuit. BPD requested KCSO take over the pursuit, which continued southbound on Hwy 99 at speeds between 80-90 mph. In the area of Hwy 166 and Hwy 99, CHP deployed a spike strip, which disabled the vehicle.

Deputies arrested the driver, 50-year-old Samuel Brown, for multiple charges, including murder. A firearm was located in the vehicle. Brown will be booked into the Central Receiving Facility. The victim's name will be released by the Coroner's Office at a later time.
