BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE 11/30): The Kern County Coroner has identified Jose Martin Longoria, 49, as the pedestrian struck and killed on Union Avenue in August.
Police are looking for the person responsible for a hit-and-run crash that killed one person Friday night in East Bakersfield.
BPD officers responded to an area on Union Avenue for a pedestrian down in the roadway at 10:15 Friday night.
Police say the man was struck by a vehicle while walking in the roadway outside of the crosswalk. The man suffered major injuries, and according to police, the pedestrian died yesterday as a result of those injuries.
The vehicle involved in the crash fled from the scene.
And police say there is no suspect information currently.
This is the 24th traffic fatality on city roadways since the beginning of this year.
