BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Kern County Sheriff's Office was called to help the Kern County Fire Department after a combative man barricaded himself inside a burning home Wednesday.

KCSO said fire crews responded to a home on fire on Normandy Drive in East Bakersfield. When they arrived, KCSO said Patricio Orque became combative before barricading himself inside a room in the home.

Deputies were called out and were able to force their way into the room to remove Orque.

Two firefighters were injured during the process. Orque was booked on multiple charges of assault on a peace officer.
