UPDATE: Coroner identifies man fatally shot in North Chester Market

(UPDATE 9:15 a.m.) The Kern County Coroner identified the victim of a deadly shooting Wednesday night as 53-year-old Wahba Agaiby Wahba.

KCSO said Wahba was shot just after 9 p.m. at the North Chester Market, near McCord Avenue. He was pronounced dead at the scene.


According to KCSO, around 9:12 p.m. Wednesday evening, deputies were flagged down by a pedestrian concerning a subject with apparent gunshot wounds inside the North Chester Market.

The market is located on N. Chester Avenue near McCord Ave.

Life-saving measures were attempted by deputies on scene. Medical aid responded and pronounced the person deceased. Homicide detectives took over the investigation.

During the investigation, detectives learned that two suspects entered the business than shot the victim and fled within seconds.

They entered a vehicle driven by a third suspect and fled the scene.
