KCSO searching for 27-year-old Charles Wilson, suspect who escaped from patrol car in E. Bakersfield

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — UPDATE (OCT. 20 3:42 p.m.): The suspect who escaped from a patrol unit car in East Bakersfield on Oct. 19 has been identified as 27-year-old Charles Wilson.

Wilson is described as a white man. Approximately 5'7", 140 pounds, brown hair, and hazel eyes.

According to KCSO, Wilson is being searched for in connection with a burglary, vehicle theft, possession of a stolen vehicle, escape, and resisting.


Sheriff's deputies are still looking for the suspect they say kicked out the door to a patrol unit in East Bakersfield and escaped.

Deputies were called to the 3100 block of Edison Highway near Oswell Street for reports of someone trying to steal a car. When they arrived they found a man breaking into a vehicle.

The man was placed under arrest, placed in handcuffs, and put into the back of the patrol vehicle. As deputies were conducting their investigation the man somehow got out of the backseat and took off.

KCSO describes the suspect as a white man in his 20's wearing a black shirt and blue shorts.

Deputies reported he got away around 9:30 p.m.
