DELANO, Calif. — Kern County Sheriff's Office officials arrested one man after a recent traffic stop led to the seizure of an assault weapon and magazine.

On April 28, deputies attempted a traffic stop just after 11 p.m. on a vehicle which was displaying an expired vehicle registration.

The driver failed to pull over for a time before stopping near the intersection of Highway 43 and Pond Road.

Deputies were able to take the driver, 36 year old Jorge Bailon, into custody without incident.

While searching the vehicle, deputies found a loaded short-barreled rifle and a high capacity magazine.

Bailon was arrested and booked for evading a peace officer and weapons violations for possessing the gun and the magazine.
