UPDATE: KCSO deputies placed on administrative leave following deputy-involved shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — (UPDATE July 15): KCSO said the two deputies involved in the shooting were placed on routine administrative leave.

KCSO identified the suspect as 36-year-old Jacob Morales. He was taken into custody and found to be in possession of a realistic replica firearm and a knife.


On Friday at around 12:00 p.m. the Kern County Sheriff's Officer confirmed they received a report of a man under the influence and in possession of a firearm on Water Street.

When deputies arrived a shooting took place and the suspect was wounded.

No officers were injured.
