(UPDATE 12/8): The Kern County Sheriff's Office said it has arrested Michael Steven Green, 19, for the shooting death of Javier Cardenas.

He has been charged with murder and booked into jail without bail. He is due in court on Thursday at 3 p.m.


(UPDATE 12/4): The Kern County Corner's office has identified a man killed in Tuesday's shooting on Flower and Miller streets. According to the KCSO, 39-year-old Eduardo Javier Cardenas was shot at this location. He was taken from the scene to Kern Medical where he died.


One person is dead following a shooting in East Bakersfield Tuesday evening.

According to the Kern County Sheriff's Office, a call regarding the shooting near Flower and Miller streets came in just before 6 p.m.

One victim was located at the scene with multiple gunshot wounds and was taken to the hospital. The victim is now dead. Authorities are still searching for the suspect who is described as a Hispanic man.

Flower Street near the intersection was closed but is now open.
