BAKERSFIELD, Calif — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating the death of a man that was in custody.

According to KCSO, the department responded after calls came in about a domestic violence incident. The incident involved an armed male at the 2700 block of Park Meadow Drive.

The suspect did not comply with orders given by officers at the scene and force was used to get the suspect in custody.

Medical aid was called for an evaluation and the suspect began having medical issues a little after the call was made. Deputies offered medical aid until medical personnel arrived. The man was declared dead at the scene.

Sheriff's Office detectives took over the investigation and the officers involved were placed on administrative leave.
