BODFISH, Calif. (KERO) — UPDATE: Phillip Martinez was arrested last night in Whittier, CA, and will be booked into the LASO Jail.


The Kern County Sheriff's Office is searching for a man wanted in connection to an assault in the area of Elk Street and Park Way in Bodfish.

According to the KCSO, deputies were called out to the location on December 15 at around 8:45 p.m. When they arrived they talked with a 57-year-old female victim who said 37-year-old Phillip Martinez attacked her with a metal pipe.

She was transported to a local hospital where she is expected to survive her injuries.

Martinez fled the residence prior to the deputies’ arrival, and his whereabouts are unknown at this time. A warrant was issued for his arrest for attempted murder, assault with a deadly weapon and other charges. Martinez is described as standing 5' 8" tall and weighing 180 lbs. He has brown hair and brown eyes.
