Chagoya was shot and taken to a hospital, according to BPD.

The Bakersfield Police Department confirmed Tuesday night they were investigating an officer-involved shooting in Southwest Bakersfield.
Crime scene tape and multiple Bakersfield Police Department cars were visible Tuesday night before 8 p.m. in the area of White Lane and Akers Road.
Officials said they received a call for an armed burglary in the 3800 block of White Lane before 7:30 p.m. Sgt. Robert Pair with the Bakersfield Police Department said officers arrived at a residence within minutes after a caller said an intruder identified as an adult male broke into their house while armed with a firearm.
Pair says upon arrival officers heard sounds of an altercation taking place inside of the home. That is when officers attempted to force entry, before they were met at the door from the original caller. The victim said the suspect took off by foot out the back of the property.
Officers located the suspect shortly after, which resulted in a foot chase and officer involved shooting. Pair says, "Officers observed he was armed with a firearm. Officers discharged their firearms at the suspect, striking him at least one time." Pair adds, "He was taken into custody, his firearm was recovered from his person. His extent of injuries at this point is minor and he was transported to an area hospital."
Pair says three officers were involved in the officer involved shooting, but none were injured. All officers were wearing body cameras. This footage will not be released, while the investigation is ongoing. At this time it is not known if the suspect and victim knew each other. It is also not known how many shots were fired. We will have updates on this as they become available.
