BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — According to Kern County Superior Court, Douglas Barrier, the off-duty BPD officer who fell asleep at Studio Movie Grill with a gun on his lap in December, entered a not guilty plea Thursday and his criminal charges were dismissed.

State law dictates that if a person enters a deferred entry of judgment program and completes the program, they could have their criminal charges dismissed.

While Barrier is still on administrative leave, he did complete the Pacific Educational Services program and subsequently withdrew his guilty plea.

On December 19, Barrier was arrested for public intoxication.
