BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The off-duty Bakersfield Police officer who fell asleep in theater with gun on lap has been charged with misdemeanor drunken disorderly conduct, court records show.
BPD Officer Douglas Barrier was arrested at the Studio Movie Grill on Dec. 20 after reports he was found asleep and in possession of a loaded firearm on his lap.
Investigating officers determined Barrier was under the influence of alcohol.
Officer Barrier was placed on administrative leave pending the outcome of an internal investigation.
He is due in court on Thursday for misdemeanor arraignment.
