BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a in Central Bakersfield that left a man dead and a woman injured.
According to BPD officials, officers responded to a ShotSpotter Activation in the area of 38th and Chester Ave. around 4 p.m. Tuesday.
ShotSpotter is a microphone technology that detects gunshots and instantly sends an alert to officers in the area.
When officers arrived on scene they found a man and woman both shot.
The 31-year-old Hispanic man was pronounced dead at the scene. The second victim, a 34-year-old Hispanic woman was transported to a local hospital where she police said she was listed in stable condition and is expected to survive.
