UPDATE: Man shot in Downtown Bakersfield Friday died, identified by coroner

(UPDATE Oct. 15 9:30 a.m.) The man shot inside a vehicle in Downtown Bakersfield Friday died Tuesday evening. The Kern County Coroner identified the man as 48-year-old David Moncada Zamora.

According to BPD, Zamora was found inside a vehicle on N and 6th streets Friday with a gunshot wound. He was taken to Kern Medical were he was pronounced dead Tuesday at 6:53 p.m.


There was a shooting overnight in Downtown Bakersfield on N and 6th streets.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers arrived on the scene of an accident. A man inside one of the vehicles was suffering from a gunshot wound. He was transported to a local hospital with "life-threatening injuries." His current condition is unknown at this time.

An investigation revealed that the victim was shot while driving through the intersection of 6th and N streets. Following the shooting, the victim continued driving a short distance until he collided with two parked vehicles on 6th Street.
