BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department is investigating a public Zoom meeting, hosted by Bakersfield College, in which an anonymous user posted a video depicting child pornography.

According to BPD, the college was hosting a meeting at 3 p.m. on Monday about the school's response to COVID-19. During the meeting, a video was posted by an unknown meeting participant of illicit sexual acts with a child.

BPD says the user was removed from the meeting by an administrator and the identity of the involved suspect and the victim are unknown at this time.

Investigators are working with B.C. and the Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force to follow through with all necessary resources to hold the person responsible for this act criminally accountable, according to the police department.

"This is an extremely serious incident involving the abuse of a child and distribution of child pornography, a felony under state and federal law," said the department.
