BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department identified 23-year-old Quane Sutton as the driver who crashed into traffic following a pursuit on Golden State Avenue.

BPD said the pursuit started when the Sutton entered a business on East California Avenue where he claimed to have a gun on him and threatened to shoot it.

Sutton then allegedly fled in a Brown T Bird, according to BPD, and officers pursued the vehicle for about a minute.

Sutton then crashed into stopped traffic on Golden State Avenue and M Street, where the suspect then got out of his vehicle. BPD surrounded Sutton with weapons drawn and K-9 units on scene.

No shots were fired and Sutton was arrested without incident. Following the arrest, officers confirmed Sutton was not armed but had a Nerf gun on him.

No injuries were reported. Sutton is facing charges felony evading, driving on a suspended license, resisting arrest, and other vehicle code violations.

He was transported and booked into the Kern County jail. He is due in court on Feb. 6.
