BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — A search warrant filed with the Kern County Superior Court show an employee with In N Out Registration Services sold counterfeit car registrations to multiple customers.

In N Out Registration Services is a licensed business partner with the Department of Motor Vehicles and is authorized to issue validated registration cards, full year stickers and license plates.

The search warrant showed that the DMV had no record of several customers who registered their vehicles with In N Out Registration Services. All of the victims identified the same employee as the one who issued them the counterfeit registrations.

Investigators approached the employee who confessed to issuing the counterfeit cards, but said she was not making the cards herself. She refused to identify who was making them.

The search warrant showed that the owner of the business had been sick and could only go into the office a couple hours a week. She told investigators the employee was her only employee and was left in-charge during this time.

After the owner was notified by investigators of the counterfeit cards, she immediately fired the employee.
