BAKERSFIELD, Calif. (KERO) — The Kern County Sheriff's Office is investigating a shooting that left a man dead.

Officers responded to reports of a shooting in the 1900 block of East California Avenue around 8 p.m. Friday night. The victim was taken to Kern Medical where he later died. KCSO later identified the man killed as James Ernest Ellis, 20, of Bakersfield.

There is no suspect information available at this time.
