Suspects arrested in connection to Southwest Bakersfield fatal shooting

BAKERSFIELD, Calif. — The Bakersfield Police Department apprehended two suspects that fled the scene of a shooting that left Joshua Rocha dead in Southwest Bakersfield.

On Thursday, Darius Poole, 19 and Ameion Oliver, 18 were arrested in connection with the murder of Rocha and booked into the Kern County Jail.

The Kern County Coroner ruled that Rocha died of a gunshot wound to the back.

BPD is seeking the community’s assistance in locating the firearm that was used in the homicide. It is believed that the firearm was discarded by one of the suspects in the area of the 4100 block of Whitegate Ave.
