TEHACHAPI, Calif. — An 11-year-old boy was arrested Wednesday after he made criminal threats on social media to “shoot up” Jacobsen Middle School, according to Tehachapi Police.

TPD said the received reports from a concerned parent who said the student had posted a photograph of himself on social media holding what was believed to be a firearm. Officers contacted the school and located the student who posted the photo.

During the investigation, officers recovered a BB gun pistol that was confirmed to be the item in the social media post. The BB gun did not have a bright orange tip on the barrel and had the appearance of a real firearm. The BB gun was surrendered to the officers by the student's parents.

The Tehachapi Police Department considers any threat toward students or school campuses to be extremely serious and we urge members of the public to report these threats immediately.
