Traffic stop leads to arrest following police chase

Early Tuesday morning a simple traffic stop led to a police chase and the arrest of a man on numerous weapons charges.

According to the Bakersfield Police Department, officers attempted to make a traffic stop at around 12:15 a.m. in hte 2100 block of New Stine Road. The driver, 32-year-old Marcos Rosales, failed to pull over and led the police on a brief chase, striking three parked vehicles in the Grissom Park area. Rosales then tried to flee on foot before being apprehended by police.

During a search, Rosales was found to be in possession of a loaded .40 caliber handgun. It was also determined that the vehicle Rosales was driving had been reported stolen. He was also wanted for violating his parole.

Rosales was arrested for numerous felony weapons charges, possession of a stolen vehicle, felony evading, gang participation, hit and run, driving without a license, and resisting arrest.
